Purpose & Mission

 

Purpose and Mission of the Foundation

  

The Foundation is organized and will be operated at all times exclusively for religious, charitable and educational purposes.

 

Subject to the foregoing, the Foundation will generally advance and preserve the Orthodox Christian faith through assistance to and performance of charitable, benevolent, philanthropic and eleemosynary activities and assistance.  In furtherance thereof, the Foundation will engage in activities which may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

 

(a)                to aid persons, within the Greek Orthodox community or outside the Greek Orthodox community, who are poor, destitute, hungry, aged, sick, unemployed, orphaned, widowed, imprisoned, handicapped, victims of disasters, or who otherwise may need help;

 

(b)               to promote participation in the activities of the Greek Orthodox community independently and/or through or in cooperation with the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Merrillville;

 

(c)               to advance, promote and assist in education, including both Greek Orthodox religious education and other education at the pre-school, elementary, middle, high school, college, trade school, university, and graduate and professional levels; and

 

(d)               to preserve the sanctity of the Orthodox family through service and to perpetuate the Christian concept of marriage and the upbringing of children, thereby promoting the Greek Orthodox faith;

 

The Foundation and its Board of Directors will always act in accordance with the dogmas, teachings, traditions, holy canons, discipline, worship and moral principles of the Greek Orthodox Church.
